1967 Elfin 500 This is my 1967 Elfin 500 Formula Vee chassis number 6719. It is an Australian designed and built race car. The Elfin Sports Car Company was founded by Garrie Cooper and his father in the 1950s in Adelaide South Australia. The Elfin name is the most famous of all of the Australian designed and built cars from the 1950, 60 70 and 80 era of Australian motorsport. The photograph was taken at turn 6 Queensland Raceway, Willowbank, Ipswich in Queensland.
1982 Elfin NG This is my 1982 Elfin NG Formula Vee chassis number 8226. This photograph was taken at Lakeside Park Raceway, Kurwongbah in Queensland. Lakeside Park or "Lakeside" is Queensland's historic motor racing circuit that still is operational today. It was once known as Australia's fastest circuit with the highest average lap speed recorded. The greats of world motor racing competed there during the 1960 and 1970 period. Jackie Clark, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart and Jack Brabham as well as the echelon of Australia's own drivers from that period have raced on the circuit. Names such as Brock, Bond, Johnson, Moffat and Richards have experienced the challenge of Lakeside.
1977 Crossle 32F Formula Ford Built by Irish company Crossle the 32F saw the largest run of any production car from Crossle. 140 examples of this Formula Ford 1600cc car were built in 1977 and 1978 of which 101 were exported. Its distinctive wide nose and high engine cover provided improved aerodynamics and engine cooling. Driver protection was further enhanced with the inclusion of a roll over bar around the dash panel.Nigel Mansell owned chassis No.37 and amongst the many others to use 32Fs were: - Dutch driver Michael Bleekemolen, Gary Gibson, Colin Lees, Arnie Black, Trevor Templeton, and much later Martin Donnelly. The 32F was also to prove to be the most popular choice for racing schools throughout the world.
Historic Racing in Queensland This photograph is an example of the cars being used in historic racing. Historic Queensland is one of the events held annualy and conducted by the Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland. It is held at Morgan Park Raceway in Warwick and is Queensland's premier historic race meeting. To see an album of photographs taken at the 2013 event click here. 50th Anniversary of Formula Vee Racing in Australia held at Wakefield park Raceway February 14 - 15 2015.A great weekend of racing and comradery highlighted by the parading of 62 Formula Vee cars covering the complete history of car and chassis design from 1965 to 2015.
